Cycle announcements and promotions

The most beautiful parking facilities can be created, the most promising parking rules can be established, if the visitor to the area does not see them or does not understand them, it will not be used successfully. In fact, people can become irritated and blame the municipality when things go wrong.
Good communication, via the right channels, therefore is key. Thanks to a background in advertising and PR and
8 years of experience at the municipality of Amsterdam, we can show beautiful and successful examples.

 Ground communication

Knowing that cyclists mainly look at the ground, and not at traffic signs, ground communication has become one of the most important tools we use. And it works.

Promotion of the Park & Walk system
Every bike city knows the struggle: tons of bikes crowding busy spots, turning the streets into a two-wheeled maze. This was the case in Amsterdam too. So, we went all-in: a mix of physical tweaks and lots of recognizable communication to persuade people to keep their bikes off the busy walkways. And so, the Park & Walk (P&W) concept was born.
To promote is was a challenge. Because how do you inform an entire city about this new concept. We made posters, desktop stands and a commercial that was used online and played in cinema's.

Surprise Parking!
When an underground car parking garage is converted into a bicycle shed, it is logical that people do not see it at once. How do you announce that?
See for yourself in the video.
It was played in 9 cinema halls above the garage.

Bicycle lessons
As the twig is bent, the tree is inclined. But what if parents do not know how to bicycle properly? Likely, their kids won’t learn how to bicycle. And still won’t be paddling when they are adults. Even in the Netherlands, this is the case with many population groups. This young adults in their communal involvement. Making it hard to sport, find internships or jobs, and maintain social contacts. That is why the municipality of Amsterdam asked us to organize bicycle lessons in its multicultural South East District.
In addition, improving equal opportunities for all.

Shared space Westerpark
The ‘Brettenpad’ is the best-used regional bicycle path between the center of Amsterdam and its western satellite cities. The closer towards the center, the more users. Near the center, the path crosses a popular park. Here, cyclists are joined by various users, such as pedestrians, runners, and skaters. We broadened the path to allow mixed-use. In addition, our choice of asphalt and the top layer creates both a park feeling and a very comfortable ride.
