Bikenine advises on high-capacity bicycle parking at major train stations in Dublin
Bikenine is proud to announce its involvement in a new project focused on improving bicycle parking facilities at two key Irish Rail stations in the Greater Dublin Area: Dublin Heuston and Bray Daly. The project, still in its early stages, is a collaboration between Irish Rail, CIE (the parent company and landowner), and the National Transport Authority, which oversees the development of public transport and active travel infrastructure across Ireland.
As experts in high-capacity bicycle parking, based in Utrecht—the heart of Dutch cycling culture—Bikenine brings proven experience in train-bike integration to the Irish context. In the Netherlands, cycling and train travel are closely linked, with around 40% of train passengers arriving at stations by bicycle. Founder and advisor Catalien Peerdeman shared her perspective: “Cycling gives freedom, something I already felt as a child, and which I now help realise for several cities and regions. Last month, I was able to share that passion with Dublin! In the coming period, I will investigate the bicycle parking options at the two large train stations in the Dublin area.”

Ireland is making significant investments in cycling infrastructure, and effective bike-train connections are a crucial part of that effort. Through this project, Bikenine will explore how to make optimal use of the often limited space around stations while enhancing the appeal of public transport through high-quality bike parking.
We are honoured to contribute our expertise to this important development and look forward to supporting Ireland’s shift toward more sustainable mobility.
